A Virginia Beach native and an Offensive MVP, Coach Alexander merges his playing accolades with educational expertise to enrich the Sandbar Sports Academy team.

A two-time Conference Player of the Year and standout catcher at First Flight High School, Jay brings a gritty, athlete-first mindset to Sandbar Sports Academy. He continued his playing career at Campbell University before making his mark in the world of strength sports—earning a Powerlifting State Record in the 181-pound class. Now a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Jay blends firsthand athletic experience with proven training methods to build stronger, faster, and more explosive athletes ready to compete at the next level.

With his roots deep in the game, Coach Corey Martin brings a blend of professional play and insightful coaching to Sandbar Sports Academy. A standout starting pitcher at Western Carolina University, Coach Martin's talent was recognized by the Chicago Cubs in the 2009 MLB draft, and he swiftly ascended to Triple-A. Transitioning from the mound to the mentor's role, he has been instrumental in developing players for collegiate and professional levels, specializing in advanced pitching metrics and biomechanics.

Coach Hunter Meekins' baseball narrative is marked by excellence and consistency, showcased during his varsity years and an impressive All-State recognition. At Barton College, his tenure as a pitcher was decorated with numerous awards, culminating as the 2011 Pitcher of the Year. His experience with the CPL Outer Banks Daredevils adds a local dimension to his rich coaching profile at Sandbar Sports Academy.

John Morris has grown up here on the Outer Banks and has been a resident most of his life. He attended First Flight HIgh School where he played varsity baseball and graduated in 2007. He then went on to pitch four years at Chowan University. Upon graduating college, John moved back to the Outer Banks and began working for Dare County Parks and Recreation.
Over the past 10 years, John has been involved with local baseball and even serves on the OBX Baseball Board of Directors. He has coached at the middle and high school level, most recently with the First Flight High School varsity baseball team.

With a strong foundation in elite performance, Eric brings a decade of high-level experience to Sandbar Sports Academy. A former standout at the University of Maryland, he was selected by the Oakland Athletics in the 19th round of the MLB Draft. After 10 years leading sports performance at Old Dominion University, Eric has worked with top-tier talent including Ryan Yarbrough, Vinnie Pasquantino, PJ Higgins, and Conner Overton. Now combining his deep expertise with a role at the world’s largest digital fitness coaching company—backed by Tom Brady, JJ Watt, and Kevin Durant—he delivers proven, next-level training built for serious athletes.

Aaron Stewart is a dedicated varsity baseball player at First Flight High School with an impressive 10-year journey in the sport. His experience ranges from youth baseball to travel leagues, showcases, and high school competitions. In the 2023 season, Aaron was honored as the Offensive Player of the Year during his sophomore year. Additionally, he secured a spot on the 2nd Team All-Conference last year. Aaron's passion for baseball extends beyond personal achievements, his ultimate goal is to inspire and mentor young athletes to excel in the game.

Known for his dedication to player development and mentorship, Jeremiah emphasizes teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship both on and off the field. His passion for nurturing young talent and shaping the future of baseball has made him a respected figure in the community.
